Scotland is one of the world leaders in adoption of renewable/green energy. Scottish energy company SSE commissioned Toby Smith to spend two months with open access to some 20+ facilities of theirs across Scotland, documenting hydro and wind energy operations. The body of work was for SSE’s brand library, being used as the wrap-around cover of their annual report amongst other usages.
It combines Toby’s approach in documenting the stunning, rugged beauty of the Scottish landscapes, the huge industrial structures, and the workforce operating within these locations. The project was also distributed as an editorial feature to tell the story of renewable energy in Scotland, and was exhibited across multiple locations in the UK and beyond.
